The Online Catalog
You can search the catalog of WLS - the Westchester Library System - for books, videos, audiobooks, sound recordings and various formats such as CDs, DVDs, videotapes, cassette tapes, etc. There are several ways to access the WLS Catalog . Select the HELP link for instructions as needed.
To place a reserve (or hold) you must supply the 14-digit barcode number on your library card (see example at right). Your reserved items will be sent to the WLS Library of your choice for pickup. You will receive a your choice of a printed notice, an e-mail, or a phone call when the item arrives at your library. When a title you want is already checked out, you may be able to place a hold on it. Again, you must have your Library Card barcode number. When the item is checked in and it is your turn to check out the item, the library will notify you that it is available. If other library patrons have placed a hold on the item, you may have to wait until those who have requested the item ahead of you are able to check out the item. When it is your turn to check out the item, you must pick it up within one week or it will go on to the next patron.

Newspaper Articles & Magazine Stories, even Literary Criticism
The Westchester Library System makes available from its web site databases that provide access to over 2000 periodicals, many of which offer full text versions of articles of general interest and specific subject areas. Magazine and newspaper databases and online encyclopedias for adults and children are accessible.

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services allow you to obtain print materials, such as books and magazine articles, as well as microfilm of old newspapers, that are not owned within the Westchester Library System.
WLS does not charge for ILL Services, however certain lending institutions have loan policies that include charging fees or on-site-use-only restrictions. If they become our only options, you will be contacted for permission to proceed. You can cancel a request if you decline to pay the charge or do not want to use the material in the library.
The average time to obtain the materials is one to four weeks; some obscure materials may take longer to get. The time it takes depends on availability of the materials requested, location and staff situation of the owning libraries, and the type of delivery.
You may place an ILL request in person at any public library in Westchester County, or follow the appropriate link below to submit your request online. You can have the requested materials delivered to any WLS member library for you to pick up, but you must return the materials to the same library where they have been checked out.
Warner Library is able to provide its patrons with FreegalMusic.com, a website where you can legally download music for free. There are no contracts to sign, and no forms to fill out. Simply click on the link to Freegal Music on the Warner Library Home page, and input your Warner Library card number and pin number to login. At this time, only a handful of libraries in the Westchester Library System have accounts with Freegal, and you must have a card from those libraries to access the site. If you are not a Warner Library cardholder, please check with your local library to find out if they offer Freegal.
How Freegal Music Works:
•Library users have a weekly download limit. You will be able to keep track of your downloads in the upper right corner of the site. Every song has a sample clip you can listen to before you download.
•The library may have an overall weekly limit, too. If your library runs out of downloads for the week, you can go to “My Wishlist” in the upper right corner and queue up for future music.
•The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs.
•Be sure to check out the browsing areas, especially Artists A to Z (bottom of page) and the genre lists (menu bar). Click on see all genres to view dozens of categories.
Enjoy the site!
Freegal Music gives you access to hundreds of thousands of songs in the Sony Music catalog. You can read more about Sony Music at www.SonyMusic.com
