Tadeusz Kosciuszko: The Man Behind the Plan in Major Andre’s Boot

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, as part of the observance of the 200th anniversary of the death of  General Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746 -1817), retired Lieutenant Colonel Jan Kozlowski will  present a lecture on the military leader and engineer whose fortifications of West Point were the subject of General Benedict Arnold’s treasonous papers found in the stocking of Major Andre when he was stopped in Tarrytown by our three local militiamen on September 23, 1780.

General Tadeusz Kosciuszko fought for independence, democracy and equality in both America and Poland.  In honor of his bicentennial, UNESCO declared 2017 as the Year of Kosciuszko.

Retired LTC Jan Kozlowski is a graduate of the USMA at West Point, served in the US Army and is currently Director of Maintenance of Way Construction for Metro North Railroad.
