Tappan Zee Bridge Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) Released

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) was released for the new Tappan Zee Bridge project. The document which is available here  http://www.newnybridge.com/documents/feis/index.html (scroll down to view; organized into individual pdfs by chapter), discusses the different options that are available for the proposed construction of the new bridge. 
For more information about the different documents, studies and reports associated with this project, New York state has recently rolled out a website dedicated to this issue titled the The New NY Bridge http://www.newnybridge.com/index.shtml. Of interest to environmental and land use legal researchers, the site has a searchable archive http://www.newnybridge.com/documents/index.html which contains documents, hearing transcripts, handouts and reports on this issue dating back to 2000; it also contains news, calendars and contact information for individuals seeking to know more about the project. 
 

There is one print copy of the FEIS at the Warner Library. Please ask at the Reference Desk. The documents must be viewed in the library. Patrons may make photocopies or use the library's computers to print pages from the Internet.

A Remedial Investigation Report (RI Report) has been prepared by ARCADIS on behalf of General Motors LLC (GM LLC), in accordance with Brownfield Cleanup Agreements (BCAs) with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) for the investigation and remediation of the Former General Motors North Tarrytown Assembly Plant Site located at 199 Beekman Avenue, Village of Sleepy Hollow, New York (Site). 

Four other reports from January 2012 were delivered with the RI Report—
·          Sediment Remedial Investigation Report
·          Alternatives Analysis Report
·          Sediment Alternatives Analysis Report
·          Draft Remedial Work Plan   (click title to view online.)

These documents are available for public review at the Warner Library Reference Desk. A complete electronic copy of these reports is provided on compact disc (CD) in a sleeve at the back of the report. The CD for both volumes of the RI Report is inside Volume 1. Pages can be photocopied or printed from the CD. 

Remedy Proposed for Brownfield Site Contamination; Public Comment Period and Public Meeting Announced (click to view online.) NYDEC invites you to a public meeting to discuss the results of the remedial investigation and the proposed remedy for the site. You are encouraged to provide comments at the meeting and during the 45-day comment period.
