"No Single Image"

What happens when we keep painting the same scenery over and over? This is the premise of the exhibition “No Single Image” by artist Adam Tramantano. Based on two public domain photographs of the same setting, Tramantano has painted more than a dozen paintings.

While based on the same scenery, each painting has a different focus, a different point of view and, therefore, we are able to experience the environment in more than one way. We are left wondering whether any single image can get across the reality of any scenery. Replace the word “scenery” with “story” or “truth” and we have an exhibit that visually illustrates why multiple points of view are far more powerful than a single image.
