Artist Barbara Lalicki



About the Artist

Barbara Lalicki enjoys creating scenes that have a narrative feel. Many of her monoprints and paintings are inspired by the objects she lives with--favorite vases, sculptures, plants, and flowers. Scenes with people may be derived from black-and-white images, such as small family photos, that she reimagines in color.


Formerly a HarperCollins Children’s Book editorial director, Barbara teaches “Creating the Picture Book” at Pratt/Manhattan and “Picture Book Essentials” at the Scarsdale Adult School with author-illustrator Steve Henry.


Featured in the Spring 2017 issue of MM&S, an Internet and print magazine devoted to monoprints, she’s studied with a variety of teachers including, importantly, Bruce Waldman. The range of Barbara’s artwork, can be seen at
