All four workshops will feature Flamenco dance and movement for the whole family, including fancy footwork (zapateo) and rhythmic hand-clapping (palmas). Following the dance section, each workshop will focus on something specific in Flamenco, led by dancers and musicians from A Palo Seco Flamenco Company:
Workshop 1: CANTE- Learn to sing some Flamenco lyrics!
Workshop 2: RHYTHM- Learn the intricacies of Flamenco hand-clapping, the Cajon (rhythmic wooden box), and Castanets.
Workshop 3: GUITAR- Learn some of the techniques and, even if you don’t play, enjoy some amazing Flamenco Guitar strumming!
Workshop 4: LIVE DEMONSTRATION – Watch members of the company PERFORM sections of pieces from company repertoire. Roundtable Discussion & Questions and Answers to follow.
